Are you basing his number 1 status on the website's (mygamercard) rankings? if so, they base their rankings on the percentage of achievements completed. If you have 100% in a game it automatically says #1. I was pretty stoked about downloading catan but I haven't played it for a while, I would always get disconnections during/ at the end of the game and it pissed me off.
